Business Opportunities in Monroe County
There are several things here in Monroe County we are very proud of;
our people, our history, even our Bar-B-Que!
But nothing is more dear to us than our entrepreneurs!
The Monroe County Business Spirit grows from our hard-working background. Farmers and loggers have long held a large share in our economy. Local entrepreneurs developed several businesses to support the farm and logging communities. Many of these businesses have survived the test of time to compete in today's global market. Stephens Mfg. Inc., Froedge Tool & Die, Grandview Welding, Southern Kentucky Hardwoods, Millwood-Graham Pallett, Stitches, Inc., Cleary Construction,
Anderson Forest Products, Joe Stephens Construction, Scotty's Construction, Roy Anderson Lumber, Apace Packaging, and
Gamaliel Shooting Supply are examples of our "home grown businesses".
Monroe County is primed and ready to grow.
Our schools continue to receive high awards in achievement and attendance and we are working hard to train our workforce to the highest standards.
In fact, we are currently designated as a "Kentucky Work Ready Community In Progress".
We boast a quality of life attractive to retirees with programs and attractions such as Old Mulkey
Meetinghouse State Historic Site which hosts a multitude of events from March through December,
the Monroe County Marble Super Dome holding marble shooting competitions every day after 4:00pm,
year long hunting and fishing opportunities, clear night skies for star viewing,
Tompkinsville City Park for Camping-Fishing-Canoeing, Cumberland River for boating and fishing,
Gamaliel Community Park Disc Golf Course, Hidden Hills Golf and Country Club.

As you read, the community is working hard to revitalize the Tompkinsville downtown area.
The Chamber's Main Street Committee recently worked with Carman Architects to develop a streetscape for
Main Street from 4th Street to 1st Street. This wonderful tool serves as a vision of the future of downtown.
The recently constructed Justice Center and the renovated bandstand on the square fit well into the scope of these revitalization efforts,
as do the additions of nearby Printers' Park and our state-of-the-art Family Wellness Center.
